Using AI responsibly for learning
AI can explain, quiz and guide you — but it can also make mistakes, and handing in AI-written work as your own is usually against the rules. Here is how to use it well.
Use AI to understand, not to copy
- Ask for explanations, examples and practice questions rather than finished answers to hand in.
- In Jey, choose 'Work through it together' or 'Give me an idea' when you want to do the thinking yourself.
Always check important facts
- AI can be confidently wrong. Compare key facts, dates and formulas with your textbook or teacher.
- Ask the AI where an idea comes from, then look up a trusted source yourself.
Follow your institution's rules
- Schools and universities have different policies on AI. Read them, and ask your teacher or lecturer if unsure.
- If you used AI to help, say so when your institution asks you to.
Protect your privacy
- Don't share ID numbers, passwords, banking details or other people's personal information in any AI chat.
